(frequently asked questions)
What kinds of services does the ETTC offer?
We are in our tenth year of offering workshops to educators, both in our computer lab and onsite in schools across the county. Our primary focus is the integration of technology with curriculum in support of the NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards. We also like to think of ourselves as brokers, connecting southern NJ educators with one another on educational topics related to technology as well as effective instructional strategies.
Do ETTC workshops “count” toward the 100 hour requirement?
The ETTC of Burlington is approved Professional Development Provider #4. Participants attending ETTC of Burlington workshops leave class with a certificate of completion that can be presented to a district supervisor. The certificate is evidence of the participant’s eligibility for professional development hours.
How does the Lending Library work?
We think the best way to get friendly with technology is to first take a class and then, take the technology back to school and actually use it successfully with your students. It’s a simple yet powerful professional development strategy. In our Lending Library there are AlphaSmarts, Intellikeys and SONY Mavica digital cameras available for two week free loans to educators. Please call 609-265-2240 for all the details.
How do I register for a workshop?
Participants may register by phone, by faxing a completed registration form, by mail or online at the ETTC of Burlington web site. (see ‘how do I know that I’m definitely registered for a workshop’ below for more details on the procedure).
How do I pay for a workshop?
Registration fees may be paid by personal check, business check or school district purchase order. (We cannot accept cash or credit cards). Receipts are available upon request. While we appreciate payment on or before the date of the workshop, we understand that each school district has its own policy when it comes to the purchase order process. In cases where payment will occur after the date of the workshop, we respectfully request a purchase order number to lock in the registration fee. All checks and purchase orders should be made payable to BCIT, the lead district for the ETTC of Burlington. Mail all correspondence and payments to ETTC of Burlington, 2 Academy Drive Suite 120, Westampton, NJ 08060. Districts, upon request, can set up a training retainer with the ETTC of Burlington and receive a monthly statement reflecting the current balance on account.
How do I know that I’m definitely registered in a workshop?
If you call 609-265-2240 it is simple and easy to get registered by phone. In the event you get voicemail when you call, please leave a phone number and a best time for us to return your call. Do not assume that you are registered for a class by leaving a voicemail message. All registrations will trigger a confirmation, by fax or email. If you have not received a confirmation within two day’s time, assume that there is a problem; you are not registered. Call the ETTC to discuss your registration.
After you complete a registration form and fax it to the ETTC at 609-265-2241, a confirmation will be sent to your attention by return fax or email. If you have not received a confirmation within two day’s time, assume that there is a problem; you are not registered. Call the ETTC to discuss your registration.
If you visit the ETTC of Burlington website at ettc.lrhsd.org/ and click on the link ‘To Register’ at the bottom of the homepage you can register for a class online by filling in a form. Shortly thereafter, a confirmation will be sent to your attention by return fax or email. If you have not received a confirmation within a business day, assume that there is a problem; you are not registered. Call the ETTC to discuss your registration.
I’m not a teacher. Can I register for a class at the ETTC?
The short answer is, “it depends.” Our workshop agendas usually focus on a technology oriented skill or process. Step two is applying that in the K-12 classroom, whether it’s using Google or building a Powerpoint show. Over the years we have accepted registrations from non-educators, but with the clear understanding that there may be elements in the class that might feel irrelevant if you’re not a classroom teacher. We deal with this question on a case-by-case basis.
How can I find out if a class is cancelled?
If a workshop does not fill to a minimum level of participants, it will be cancelled, typically one week before the class is scheduled to run. All registered participants will be notified immediately. In the event of extreme winter weather, 674 is the snow closing number. If our parent organization BCIT has a snow day, we will also be closed.
What about food?
Lunch is not included in the cost of all day workshops. There are many restaurants in the area that are convenient to our location. Workshops usually break for an hour-long lunch. The good news is that we always keep a basket filled with chocolate nearby for quick nibbling during our workshops. Water bottles and coffee cups with lids may be brought into the lab. Coffee is not available in the building.
How does the waiting list work?
If a workshop fills to maximum, it will be closed. Names will be accepted for a waiting list. If a participant cancels their registration, the names on the waiting list will be contacted in turn to fill the empty seats. When the same class is offered the following quarter, the waiting listed individuals will be given special priority to register for the class ahead of others.
I registered for a class and then didn’t attend. What happens now?
We appreciate the courtesy of a phone call if a participant is unable to attend a workshop they have registered for. If notified in a timely manner, we can many times offer your seat to a teacher on a waiting list. If a participant does not attend a workshop, rather than offer a monetary refund, our policy is to apply the registration fee to a future workshop of choice. Such credits can be carried over to the next academic year.
How do I become at trainer at the ETTC of Burlington?
If you are a current (or former) educator who has had success integrating technology with K-12 instruction and can effectively share that information with adult learners, we’d like to hear from you. Here’s the process: complete the Talented Teacher Trainer form on the ETTC of Burlington home page and email a resume to Sharon Lavinson at ettc@bcit.cc. All proposals will be acknowledged and evaluated.Where is the ETTC of Burlington located?

Where can I park?
