ETTC's Rock Sites:

Michael Ahearn of Medford Township School District recently visited the ETTC of Burlington County for a World Wide Web Wednesday session. Here are some of the sites he “unearthed” for a science unit on rocks and minerals:

Rock Hounds with Rocky uses a loveable long eared hounddog as a friendly guide to engaging activities and great sources of information for teachers and students studying rocks in the elementary classroom.

Visit the Virtual Cave for an up close and personal look at the beautiful mineral wonders unique to the cave environment.

Check out the Smithsonian’s Gem & Mineral Collection . The images of minerals all increase in size once you click on them.

WebDoGS lead teachers and students to countless rock links on the Internet including an opportunity to Ask a Geologist a question about rocks and minerals.

Some additional links: Mineral Gallery, GeonFind Puzzle (interactive), Rocks & Minerals Slide Show, Rocks & Minerals, What Kind of Rock Is This?
